Secondary school student jailed for threatening to kill teacher

An Abeokuta Magistrates Court on Thursday, sentenced a 20 year-old secondary school student, Segun Dosumu, to three weeks in jail with hard labour, for taking steps to kill his teacher.

Dosumu, who dwells at Iboro space of Ogun, had conceded to the charge preferred against him when it was perused to him.

Thus, after the review of fact of the case by the Prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, the Magistrate, Mr S. S. Sotayo convicted Dosumu for the charge.

Sotayo said besides the confirmation of guilt, all the proof introduced in court had demonstrated without question that the convict was guilty of the offence as charged.

The magistrates’ thusly, sentenced the convict to three weeks in the correctional center with hard labour, yet with an choice of N200,000 fine.

Prior while checking the facts realities of the case, Diyaolu had told the court know that the defendant committed on the offense on Nov. 23 at 9.00 a.m. at Eyinni Comprehensive High School, Iboro, Yewa North of Ogun.

Diyaolu, said the convict, a Senior Secondary 3 student of Eyinni Comprehensive High School, taken steps to kill or harm Mr Ismail Fadeyi, his teacher, with a bottle.

The prosecutor said the offense repudiated Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006, NAN reports.
