Buhari presents 2022 budget to N’Assembly October 7

Omo-Agege disclosed this when he read a letter from the president to that effect during the plenary of the Senate.

According to him, President Buhari is seeking changes in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) — parameters for next year’s budget.

He quoted Buhari to have explained that the changes were in line with the newly enacted Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The Deputy Senate President, after reading Buhari’s letter, directed the Senate committee on finance to effect the changes and report to the plenary on Wednesday.

He added, “The committee should have the report by tomorrow before the budget presentation on Thursday.”

The letter by the president regarding budget presentation on Thursday was also read by the House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, on the floor of the green chamber on Tuesday.

The president is expected to present the budget at the joint session of the lawmakers which will be held in the lower legislative chamber.

Initially, the total sum of the 2022 budget was N13.98 trillion, that may change with the work to be done on the revised MTEF.
