OPINION: Dr Mahmoud Babatunde Ajeigbe, A resounding tribute to M B A @53

I have been deeply blessed, privileged to have come across a man as resounding and resourceful as Dr Mahmoud Babatunde Ajeigbe in the course of my life sojourn. Dr MBA as fondly called by admirers is a man of many standing, a reputable politician of note, a referred and highly respected business administrator whose reach is beyond the shores of Nigeria.

Today, once again, offers me the rare privilege of exalting the achievements of a man, who had in the cause of fulfilling his God’s calling, made outstanding impacts on the life of many people across board without any form of affiliations, such is the ethos inherent in the life of an Omoluabi like him.

The young Mahmud was born in the historic city of Minna, the capital city of Niger State in the late sixties. His Dad, Alhaji Bola Ajeigbe a community leader and well respected technologist of his time was the 1st life patron of the Offa Students Union (OSU) and his mother, Alhaja Sikirat Ibiyeye – Ajeigbe a strict disciplinarian and staunch business woman of note in those days. His formative years was thus fruitful and eventful owing to his humble background and the status of his beloved parents, which till today, he’s still fond of both of them.

He holds a B.Sc in Zoology (1988) M.sc Animal Science (1992) MBA (2000) and P.h.D. in Business Administration (2019) from several prestigious universities within the country (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Federal University of Technology, Akure. Kwara State University Malete)

He has over 30 years of cognate experience in both private and public establishments. Dr Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe served at various times in the government of Kwara State. He’s one time the commissioner of Information and communication (2015-2018) Special Adviser parastatals (2018-2019) Senior Special Assistant Agriculture (2012-2014) and Spec Asst. NEPAD (2011-2012)

As a young graduate with bubbling ideas and expertise, The young Mahmud was quickly absorbed into the service of the National provident fund which later metamorphose into the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) from 1994 till the late 2005 where he bowed out after many years of meritorious service as a worker and later as a manager, the position he held till his retirement. Interestingly, He was also a credit and Investment officer at the Nigeria Agricultural, Cooperative And Rural Development Bank (NACRDB) between the period of 1988 till 1990. As if that’s not enough, this distinguished birthday boy was also at a time a Senior Analyst at First Union Mortgage from 1992 to 1994.

Dr Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe is a Malaysian trained Halal Lead Auditor, Facility Management and Human Resources Consultant. He has over the years consulted for many national and international organizations, corporate bodies, multilateral agencies, State governments and so on. Another cap to his professional feathers is his certification as a US trained facility management professional and cleaning care professional.

He’s a member and fellow of many national and international reputable organizations and institutions. Some include being a Fellow of the Institute Of Corporate Administrators (FICAD), Member, Governing council of the Ekiti City Polytechnic, Member Board of Trustees Of Halal Standard Development Trust (HASDAT), Member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Others are Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM), Member, Association of Practising Facility Managers Of Nigeria (APFMN) and Member Nigeria Institute Of Public Relations (MNIPR). He is a founding Member of the Cleaning Practitioners Association Of Nigeria (CPAN).

As a duly principled man, being a politician is accidental and unplanned. His foray into politics is without its own watershed and drama. His entry into politics was largely from coming to support the Gubernatorial ambition of a friend and to the glory of God, as things worked as planned, he was then brought on board to serve and contribute his own quota to the development of Kwara State.

Ever since his involvement in the annals of the State political process, he has played Politics from the prism and ethos of the Omoluabi perspective a trait lacking in many of our contemporary politicians today. As a public servant, he’s always after due process and ensuring things are done in manners acceptable globally. He was nicknamed “Headmaster” by staff for his inquisitive nature, adherence to due process and always wanting to learn and relearn.

Dr Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe is a renowned philanthropist and highly committed to the plights of the less privileged. He’s over the years offered scholarship opportunities to various students across the spheres of our educational system. Both the aged and the widows have a place in the heart of this Noble man of the soil as he’s come through for them in many ways. In order to ease the movement of the Kwara State Artisans Congress and the people of Owode Market in Offa, this Distinguished son of the soil donated two 18 seaters Bus to the two associations respectively as a support to them and as a sense of civic social responsibility.

All these and many more intervention too numerous to mention attest to his commitment to serving his people and his zeal to assist in communal development.

Dr Mahmud is currently an Associate Professor of the School of Business and and Management @ the Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) in Kampala, Uganda. He’s the regional representative for UTAMU covering Nigeria and West Africa and was also an adjunct Lecturer with Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete, Nigeria.

Dr Mahmud is a detribalised Nigerian, a devoted Muslim and a proud family Man.

Sir, as you add another year to your glorious years, I pray to Allah to continue to be with you and strengthen you to live longer

Happy birthday Sir.
