Suspected hoodlums raze two INEC offices in Ebonyi

Suspected hoodlums have set ablaze two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State.

The razed offices are located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of the state.

Although no casualties were recorded, extensive damages were done to the buildings and facilities.

The latest incident occurred a few hours before a meeting scheduled for Wednesday(today) between INEC and heads of security agencies over the attacks on the Commission’s offices.

The latest attack brings the number of INEC offices that have been torched to 23.

A breakdown of the incidents showed that the most affected states include Akwa Ibom (four), Abia (three) Anambra (two) and Imo (two).

Other states where INEC offices and facilities had been torched that between February 2019 and May 2021 are Borno, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Kano, Ondo, Plateau and Rivers.

Abuja INEC office was also affected.
